Arrival in Spetses
For 2 hours stay
Above the port is Dapia, the island’s old artillery hosts most of the cafes, decorated with pebbles from the surrounding beaches.
You can visit the mansion of Bublina about 100 meters from the port. Near the mansion is the neoclassical building of the benefactor of the island Sotiris Anargiros.
At Posidoniou Square you can see the first hotel of the island built in 1897 and the statue of Bouboulina overlooking the sea.
200 meters from the port is the sandy beach of Ag Mamma for a refreshing dive.
At 600 meters from the port lies the monastery of Agios Nikolaos, where the flag of the revolution was raised on the island, where the film “Jenny Jenny”, specifically the wedding scene (The Classic Madas and Gortsos) was shot.
About one kilometer away the old harbor hosts most of the island’s mansions but also the old carnagies that were built by the ships of the revolution. Nearby is the big lighthouse of the island and the statue of fireman Kosmas Barbatsi who set fire to the Turkish flagship at the Battle of Spetses September 8, 1822.
You can visit the city on foot or in horse-drawn carriages carrying 4-5 people, with their starting point next to the port.
Leaving Spetses we see the Anargirio Korgialenio School, one of Anargiros’ many offerings on the island and the rich pine forest that touches the blue waters.
